Professional Standards for Teachers
“The key elements of quality teaching are described in the Standards” National Professional Standards for Teachers, February 2011
The Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST) define the work of teachers and explicitly describe the elements of high-quality, effective teaching by providing a framework of the knowledge, practice and professional engagement required across teachers’ careers.
The APST comprise of seven Standards which outline what teachers should know and be able to do.
The Standards are grouped into three domains of teaching; Professional Knowledge, Professional Practice and Professional Engagement.
I have described each Standard and linked to evidence in my own teaching practice by a brief reflection to show how I have incorporated it into my teaching pedagogy.
The evidence is described or uploaded in each standard section and can also be found collated into evidence type and year level in the 'EVIDENCE' tab of my ePortfolio for quick access and resource sharing.
